-ABOUt rebecca-

Pluralistic counsellor. NCPS registered. Someone who has sat where you're sitting - and chose to do something about it.

I didn't come to counselling from the outside. I came through the door as a client first.

✧ Why I do this work

I want to help because I have been helped by what I share. I knew there is more to life than how I was feeling. Once I sat with my therapist and opened the floodgates, there was no going back. Session after session, frustration after frustration, I told her it al. I felt heard, unburdened and able to start witnessing and validating myself.

I did the inner work. I kept doing it.

I started out of curiosity, to get to know ‘Me’ better, I realised I was going to be ‘Me’ for the rest of my life and that I had no idea who ‘I’ actually was.

That experience changed how I see everything. Including what it means to ask for help. We are conditioned to not reach out, or to only do so when you are drowning, there is no shame in wanting to be heard for the sake of being listened to. Come and find out who you are, be valued as the person you are, the experiences you are having, sharing the mental load so you can leave a little less burdened, a little more relaxed and much more able to cope.

There is no shame in asking for support. As a baby, did you feel shame for holding your parent's hand as you learnt to walk? Reaching out is not a sign of weakness. It's one of the most courageous things a person can do.

✧ How I work

I am a Pluralistic counsellor - which means I have a tool kit of different approaches which I can use to help suit your needs. I don't come with a script or a fixed agenda you lead this conversation and direct your own healing path. I come with my full attention, a genuine belief in your capacity to find your own answers, and an unconditional respect for your experience.

My role is not to fix you. You are not broken. My role is to create the conditions - a safe, consistent, non-judgmental space - in which something can begin to shift.

I'm not a magician, doctor, or psychologist with a magic wand and quick fix remedies. I'm a co-regulator, another human being who is walking her path and is witnessing yours. I sit alongside you while you find your own way through, guiding you where you need through observations, insights and suggestions.

✧ Outside the counselling room

My path has not been linear. Alongside my counselling training, I began my healing journey in 2018, moving through many different ways of healing from nature, to dancing, to just sitting in the depths of it with my Counsellor.

Training in some and experiencing the benefits in all- which means I understand healing at many levels. I bring that depth of understanding into the counselling room, without ever stepping outside the ethical framework of my professional role.

This shouldn't set me apart, but there are few counsellors that are dedicated to their own uncomfortable healing and self improvement : you are working with someone who takes this seriously and has experienced the results of her own courage and curiosity.

It takes great courage to heal yourself in a world that wants to keep you profoundly sick.

We cannot do this alone - for when you rise, I rise, and we all rise together.

We only do this together: individuals healing themselves heals the collective.
